eMindset 26-27: Grounded in eBalance, Guided by eKnowledge...
RJA eMindset Summer Symposium
Tuesday July 28, 2026 2:30pm - 3:15pm PDT
TARGET AUDIENCE: Elementary eHumanities
Implementing Literacy Tools That Build Skill and Voice
This session prepares eHumanities teachers to implement key literacy tools that support both foundational reading skills and structured writing development within the eHumanities block.
Objectives include learning how to implement Heggerty for phonemic awareness, apply the RJA spelling routine with consistency, use Read 180 to support strategic reading intervention, and leverage Newsela AI Tutor to build writing stamina and structure through personalized, AI-supported feedback.
Key Learnings include understanding when and how each tool fits into the instructional schedule, and how they collectively reinforce eSkills such as writing, analyzing text and data, and providing feedback. Teachers will also explore how these resources support eAttributes like Growth Mindset, Self-Awareness, and Innovation by helping students build confidence in both decoding and expression.
Takeaway for Activation & Next Steps: Teachers will leave with a clear understanding of each tool’s purpose, implementation timing, and how to integrate them into a cohesive literacy block that builds capable, confident communicators.
